Clearing and Benzol Peroxide

WHAT TO EXPECT WHILE CLEARING ON BENZOL PEROXIDE THERAPY

We are starting you out on a low level of benzoyl peroxide lotion (BPO). For stubborn acne, this is not going to be a high enough percentage to clear your skin. However, we can't start you out on the highest level, because you will get very dry, irritated, and red.
We will work you up in small increments. Every four days we will be moving you up to a higher level of benzoyl peroxide, as your skin can tolerate it. I will be contacting you throughout this process.
At first, you will see clearing. You will also see calming of the skin, less redness, and you will also begin to notice flaking. Your skin needs to dry and peel in order to clear, but it should not be so dry that you can't move your face, or you feel uncomfortable. Most people would rather have flakes than pimples. And it's only temporary. You can always contact me and we can adjust the products if you are feeling to dry and uncomfortable.
Do not be surprised if after there is some clearing in the beginning, you see breakouts again. As your skin gets used to the level of Benzoyl Peroxide you are on, it may breakout again. This is why we need to keep moving you up, and you need supervision to do this. That's where I come in. Most people need to go up to 10% or extra strength to completely clear.
So please don't be alarmed if you have seen clearing , and all of a sudden you see new pimples. It takes 60 to 90 days for a blemish to form under the surface of the skin. It will take that long for your skin to stop making blemishes, with proper use of the skincare products. That means if you see a new breakout three days from now, it has been forming under the surface of the skin for 60 to 90 days , and its the same situation if three weeks from now, you find new blemishes popping up . The higher you go on the BPO medication , the less your skin will breakout.

Steps to clear faster:

Ice Treatment can be used at night before you put the BPO lotion on. Ice will raise the cuticle and reduce inflammation, enabling the BPO lotion to penetrate better, this helps the skin clear more rapidly. To do an ice treatment, First use exfoliant and/or cleanser, then pat your face dry with a towel. Take an ice cube, and rub it over your face for about a minute. Pat your face dry, and apply the BPO lotion all over, anywhere you've ever had a blemish, even if there isn't one there now.
After you've applied BPO lotion all over your face, while it is drying, you can take a Q-tip and the 10% or the extra strength BPO, and put a small mound of it on any blemish you see or feel under the surface of the skin. LET IT DRY COMPLETELY BEFORE GETTING INTO BED.
Two times a week use the clay and sulfur mask. Clay and sulfur will soothe, smooth, exfoliate, and kill bacteria, enabling the skin to clear more quickly. The mask is used AFTER EXFOLIANT AND/OR CLEANSER, and is applied 1/8 of an inch thick, apply enough so you don't see your skin through the mask after it is applied. Let it dry 10 minutes and remove with a warm, damp washcloth. Rinse well and pat face dry. You can do an ice treatment if desired, then apply the BPO lotion as above.
